In 2021, Shane Magor went through a period of not enjoying beer and stopped drinking for a while—until a close friend offered him a gin and tonic. WOW… It was love at first taste! After a few more G&Ts, his business mind went into overdrive.

At the time, Shane was a Real Estate Agent who had lost his passion and drive. He needed a new challenge and career path. Fortunately, as a third-generation Magor with beautiful farming land in Myponga on the Fleurieu Peninsula, the opportunity was right in front of him.

The Fleurieu Peninsula is a renowned tourist destination, thanks to its proximity to Adelaide, the coast, and the McLaren Vale Wine Region. The site—perched along the busy tourist route between Myponga and Carrickalinga—was chosen for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Fleurieu coastline. It was the perfect location for something truly special.

Fleurieu Gin was created in November 2021 by Shane & Kylie Magor, and things moved quickly. The COVID pandemic provided the perfect opportunity for extensive product testing during lockdown periods, with numerous sample batches trialed by family and friends (all within social distancing protocols, of course!).

From there, meticulous business planning, design, and construction took place, leading to the build of the Fleurieu Gin Production Plant & Distillery, which commenced in January 2023.

Now, we are beyond excited to announce that our stunning, brand-new distillery is officially open! Perched atop rolling hills with sweeping ocean views, our space is designed to be as inviting and beautiful as the spirits we create. We’ve poured our hearts into every detail, and we are incredibly proud to finally welcome visitors through our doors each week. Whether you’re stopping by for a tasting, a cocktail, or just to take in the scenery, we can’t wait to share our space with you, we promise, it’s worth the visit!
